Comment appliquer soi-même de la peinture à la chaux pour réussir ses murs texturés à effet badigeon?

How to apply whitewash paint yourself to make a success of your textured walls with a whitewash effect?

Interior walls with whitewash paint, a trend to adopt!

In recent times, the whitewash effect of whitewash on interior walls has become one of the trendiest finishes in terms of interior design.

Natural materials, organic forms, raw materials and the integration of nature inside are among the elements increasingly sought after by the occupants of a property to improve their interior space towards zenitude and calm.

The beauty of artisanal lime on decorative walls is one of the solutions to join this trend. We offer you a simplified solution thanks to our paint product Siena from Graphenstone , imported from Spain, which was marketed with the aim of being easy to apply.

Is it possible to do a lime paint project yourself without hiring professional services?

Our answer is YES, without a doubt, if you use the right product of course! Several solutions are offered on the market and sometimes they seem complex because of the number of steps or the number of products to obtain. Here at Domeco, we sell lime paint in 4L or 15L containers that you can buy over-the-counter with the shade you want, ready to use.

Our natural lime-based paint specially formulated to create whitewash effects with a professional finish by yourself is now possible with Siena from Graphenstone .

What are the steps for applying Siena lime paint to achieve a decorative accent wall on your own?

Surface preparation

Before you start, make sure the surface is dry, firm, well adhered and free of any impurities. If the support has algae, mould, fungi and/or other impurities, it is recommended to carry out a deep cleaning or treatment using specific products for this purpose.

If it is an old gloss or satin paint, it is recommended to lightly sand and clean the surface.

If the color of your existing walls is dark, it is recommended to apply a primer.

Product preparation

To prepare product, stir and dilute with water to 0-5% of product volume (0-50 ml water per liter of product or 0-7 fl.oz per gallon). Add water little by little until you get the desired consistency. Ensure a homogeneous mixture. Avoid excessive shaking to minimize bubble entrapment. For pigmentation, add liquid toner to product dilution. Add some water into the pigment container to make sure there is no pigment left in the containers.

Application method

Apply 2 coats with a brush, paint mitt, mitt or sponge with gentle, multidirectional gestures depending on the desired effect, so that the paint load is not evenly distributed, enhancing the natural effect of lime and its shadows.

Drying

As it is a lime-based paint, real covering power will not be appreciated immediately after application. It is important to respect the drying time between coats (2 to 4 hours) to appreciate the coverage of the paint. The carbonation process occurs mainly during the first 30 days. Avoid cleaning and/or scrubbing during this time.
